The Powerful owl is a symbol of strength, wisdom and grace. At GNW each year many gather to test their skills against each other to seek out who is the Powerful owl. Sadly Great Northern War as we know it will not be happening this year due to Covid, however there are many elements we all love about GNW, one aspect is the Powerful owl Tournament.

The Barony of River Haven is hosting several day events to celebrate the different aspects of GNW, so We invite all Heavy and Rapier combatants to attend this event and test your skills against our friends from near and far.

The Crown is attending to bear witness to the skills at arms of those entering the tournament. A subtle reminder that many that have won the powerful Owl tournament, have also gone on to win Crown.

The famous GNW Market day will also happen at this event, so we encourage all stall holders to come and sell your wares

Please note: Due to Covid requirements, booking for this event is mandatory

Catering:
This event board approved for catering, so everyone will get a River Haven Happy Meal (ploughman’s lunch). We will do our best to cater for as many dietary needs as possible.

10:30am – Armour Inspections open
11:00am – Rapier Tournament start
12:00pm – Lunch is served
1:00pm – Heavy tournament starts
4:00pm Closing court

Please be aware that this is a draft timetable, Peerage ceremony to be included during the day.
There will be two tournament fields, depending on numbers of fighters, both tournaments may be required to run simultaneously, elsewise pickups may be done on the field not being used.

Please note: If the event is cancelled due to Covid, full refunds will be given. If you are unable to come to the event due to covid regulations please email the Steward/booking officer for a full refund. Refunds will be processed after the event

Hall Location
The River Haven hall is located in 35 Wesley Street, Lutwyche, on the Inner North side of Brisbane.
Parking is available on either Wesley street or Swinburne Street (with a walk across the park). It is recommended to park on Swinburne Street due to the large volume of traffic on Wesley Street.
